Educational Consultant Janet Lee, the founder of Pathways Educational Consulting, has extensive experience serving as an advocate and navigator for parents of children with special needs in the Montgomery County, Maryland public school system. She prepares parents for MCPS school meetings and assists them at these meetings in order to secure appropriate placements for their children.

  2. Considerations in IEP Development In developing an IEP, the IEP “team” will consider a number of factors. The “Team” includes the child’s parents or guardian, general education teacher, special education staff, the staff who have tested the child, Pupil Personnel Worker and any other professionals the school system deems necessary.

  3. Our Classroom Strategies There are many strategies that a teacher can use to help a student with executive functioning issues. It is important to note that these issues are manageable. One of the most critical elements is to provide structure with established routines.

  4. Disabilities & Special Education Eligibility The disabilities that make a child eligible for special education are: Autism is a developmental disability that affects verbal communication. It also affects social interactions and can affect educational performance.
