Project Overview Provide an overview of the project that describes the project and its most noteworthy features (it is recommended in Categories 1 & 2 that this overview should not exceed 1000 words). This section should briefly summarise all of the key aspects covered in the remainder of the submission. Below are some hints at the type of information the judges find useful in assessing your project against its peers: • Description of the contract type (e.g direct; design and construct; Alliance; subcontract, etc). • Role and names of consultants and principal – where an entry is from more than one party, the entry should clearly state the names of all of the partners involved • Concise and specific details of the project cost and timing schedule (including completion date, consider including a summarised version of the Project Program). • Where relevant - a statement from the client on how well the project met its needs, time requirements and budget constraints. • Project description, including type, size, total cost, impact on community and project specific actions relevant to the evaluation criteria. • Client requirements, which should be limited to major considerations. • Summarise the key challenges faced in the delivery of the project. • Include aspects that you consider demonstrate outstanding construction and/or environmental techniques, as distinguished from what would be regarded as standard construction practice and professional competence.
1.0 Construction Management • Explain the challenges faced and solved in overcoming construction constraints and any latent conditions. • The use of any new or improved industry technologies. • Any risk management initiatives. • Explain any project delivery strategies that departed from standard delivery methods. • Explain clear management responsibility including designation of roles and responsibilities of site personnel. • What measures were taken for minimising potential inconvenience and damage to adjoining property and the public. • Tidiness of construction site and orderly arrangement of activities. 1.1 Construction excellence and industry best practice (15 points)
1.0 Construction Management • Describe any innovation and / or imaginative thinking in the approach to the project incorporating any beneficial changes to the original design or construction program – particularly if initiated by the Contractor. • Did you use or introduce any new, novel or unique construction methods. • Application of a process or methodology new to the State, Territory, Australia or worldwide. • Any innovative changes made during construction to counter any latent conditions . 1.2 Innovation in concept and implementation (9 points)
1.0 Construction Management • Give details of how the project parties worked together. • Roles and responsibilities of the parties. • Communication techniques to enhance relationship development. 1.3 Interface with other project parties (5 points)
1.0 Construction Management • Identify and describe any technical and complex aspects of the project. • Describe how these aspects provided the need for additional construction and management solutions. 1.4 Technical complexity (5 points)
2.0 Environmental and Social Management • Comment on project specific environmental management systems and plans. • Minimisation of adverse environmental impact and effects during construction. • Successful implementation and completion of project within nominated environmental guidelines. • Extent of environmental constraints to be overcome. • Use of suitably qualified site personnel to monitor environmental concerns. 2.1 Management of environmental constraints and enhancement (15 points)
2.0 Environmental and Social Management • Describe the re-use of materials sourced on site. • Use of recycled materials brought to site from an external source. • Separation of site generated waste and subsequent correct disposal. • Recycling and use of materials removed from site. 2.2 Resource recycling/reuse (7 points)
2.0 Environmental and Social Management • Describe environmental improvements to the site. • Explain any removal of hazards undertaken. 2.3 Improvement in environmental amenity (5 points)
2.0 Environmental and Social Management • Provide a summary of how and why the community were involved in the project. This ranges from project neighbours through to the wider community depending on the size of the project. It will cover individuals through to representative groups, e.g. local government. • Potential future use of the site for the community. • Contributions to the local community during the life of the project. • Heritage and/or cultural issues addressed. 2.4 Community consultation, interface and benefits (6 points)
3.0 Project Management 3.1 Project planning and management (15 points) • Identify and explain the Contractor involvement in the management of the project. • Outline the management structure and responsibility. • Explain if management covers the overall project - including disciplines other than the civil component. • Indicate any involvement in the pre-construction planning of the project. • Explain if and how the planning and management of the project made a significant contribution to the ultimate success of the project?
3.0 Project Management • Comment on quality control plan and procedures as they impacted this project. • Comment on Work Health and Safety plan and procedures specific to this project. • Describe how quality control and Work Health and Safety management contributed to the outcomes. 3.2 Quality control and Work Health and Safety (7 points)
3.0 Project Management • Describe all training that took place as part of the project. This could include project specific training or training and staff development undertaken on the project as part of company processes. • Examples include, site induction, trainee/apprentice training, environmental, heritage, plant and animal identification, etc. 3.3 Workplace training (5 points)
3.0 Project Management • Provide a summary of project timing achievements against plans. • Indicate performance against budget for the project. • Highlight unforeseen issues which impacted on time and budget and how they were overcome and/or addressed by the project. • Consultation with the client on timing and budget issues. • Satisfaction levels and support from the client. (Copy of correspondence from the client may be useful.) 3.4 Achieving timing and budget targets (6 points)
Appendices These should include: • Colour photographs and diagrams to illustrate key points. • Entrants must supply high resolution ‘before during and after’ digital photographs of the project and related works - these are used with media releases and publications. Please provide a separate USB with a minimum of 20 photos. Two (2) USBs of images is required. • A copy of your submission in soft copy format. • Where possible, good quality video footage of the project ‘before, during and after’ construction. This is used for promotional purposes, including media and in Branch and National Awards presentations.
Submit Your Entry • Please post (2) printed submissions, USB with a copy of the submission in soft copy and your 2 x USBs with a minimum of 20 high resolution photos on each USB to your local CCF branch. • Don’t forget to include your EOI form to your local CCF Branch 8 weeks prior the Branch Awards.
