Mission ofThe National Geo-data Centre of The NetherlandsTNO B&O Geological Survey of the Netherlands The Ministry of Economic Affairs (on behalf of the Dutch State) has assigned a “geo-information” task to TNO. This task is: to act as the central geoscience institute in the Netherlands for information and research to promote the sustainable management and use of the subsurface and its natural resources DINO-DO Users Advisory Council

National Geo-data Centre of the Netherlands – DINO Rationale & Philosophy by MEA • Based on the Energy and Mining policy of the Dutch State (Mining Act and Decree 2003) • All data obtained by public funding should be made easy accessible to the Dutch citizens at marginal costs. (E-government-2000) • Released data & information will stimulate economic activities. (FOI act Clinton & Al Gore) DINO-DO Users Advisory Council

National Geo-data Centre of the Netherlands –DINO Founding Principles & Concepts in 1997 by MEA • Contain all Geo-data and Information of the Subsurface of the Netherlands. • DINO is designed to store 225 geoscientific data types • “One-stop-shop” • easy access at marginal cost for all users • Based on Internet technology, GIS and an integrated database. Governance of the Geo Information Program (GIP) Task and Responsibilities National Council for the Geological Survey of the Netherlands (GSN) Approves: • Mid Long Term Plan (2007 – 2011) (Priority / Funding) • Annual Geo Information Production Plan (Priority / Budget Plan) • Annual Progress Reporting GIP (Products/ Budget Realisation) • Organisational Changes • Supervises TNO on how they perform on the assigned “geo-information” task. (adhere to bounding conditions, use audits by external experts as instrument) • Guardian and Observer of the Contract between the State and TNO • Liaison to the National, EU Governmental Agencies and Industry at Strategic Level • Promote the use of DINOLoket and act as ambassador for the GSN • Chairman is appointed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MEA) • Appoint the Delegated Program Manager – Director of the Geological Survey of the Netherlands DINO-DO Users Advisory Council

Governance of the Geo Information Program (GIP) Task and Responsibilities Geo-Information Commision (GIC) Advises the National Council on approval of the: • Mid Long Term Plan (2007 – 2011) (Content / Priority ) • Annual Geo Information Production Plan (Content/ Priority) • Annual Progress Reporting GIP (Products/ Budget Realisation) • Supervise that the Annual GIP is compliant with the MLTP • Advise on reallocation of priority and budget at mid-term review of the Annual GIP • Formulate the Users Demand & Priority from the Government Agencies • Evaluate, approve or reject the Advise on Demand & priority by the Users Advisory Council (UAC) • Liaison to the Governmental Agencies at Tactical Level • Promote the use of DINOLoket DINO-DO Users Advisory Council
