Training route
- 1st week of employment = intensive in house training + ˝ to 1 day per week for 24 weeks.
- to achieve unit specific competencies within above time frame
- When complete will qualify as ACCP and band 3 status

Foundation degree
- Option for an ACCP to apply to foundation degree for 2 years
- Will need 3 GCSE’s Grade ? Or above or NVQ 3 qualification
- Completion of foundation degree = band 4 status

The role of the Assistant Practitioner should be recognised and valued in it’s own right.
Assistant practitioners should be recognised by employers as valued workers who support the work of registered practitioners.
Assistant Practitioners may work under direct guidance and work as lone workers where appropriate

Training Assistant Practitioners should have at least one years experience in health and/ or social care
Education of TAP’s should normally be 2 years in duration but AP(E)L should be considered by programme providers
Education of the Assistant Practitioner should be work based and employer led
