Cross Tab Data • The one consistent perceived need was an indoor pool. • The primary reason, across all categories, that people would use a center is for fitness. • Cross tab groups with the highest support for developing an indoor recreation center • Current users of recreation facilities • Households with children • High income households • Cross tab groups with the lowest support • Seniors • Lower income households • Long time residents
Summary • There is reasonably strong use of existing recreation facilities. • 57% of respondents indicated existing facilities only meet some of their needs • Recreation features that are most needed • Indoor pool • Space for teens • Aerobic/Fitness space • Weight/Cardio area • Gym • Indoor track
Summary • Activities that respondents would use the center for • Fitness/exercise • Recreation/instructional swimming • Instructional classes • A site downtown is desired • Most would walk to the center
Summary • There is a willingness to pay fees for the center • The center should be close to operational self sufficiency • The center would receive strong use • Low level of support for a property tax increase for a center • The overall response to the concept of developing a community recreation center is fair but funding will be a challenge
Next Steps • Phase One is complete • Determine the willingness to continue with Phase Two of the feasibility study
