  3. LEGAL CAREERS ACADEMY • This program is designed to allow students to explore multidisciplinary legal professions and engage in on-site observations at a variety of legal and law enforcement facilities.

  4. Demonstrates a sincere interest in legal careers. Exhibits maturity and an ability to work independently and in teams. Meets graduation requirements at the secondary level. Plans to attend college or training program. Completes the junior year of high school Maintains at least a B average. Obtains the necessary recommendations. Completes a letter of interest. REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE:

  10. GENESEE VALLEY CAREER AND TECHNICAL CENTER GV Career & Tech Center provides an instructor for three of the college courses.

Genesee Region College Tech Prep • Partnered with Genesee Valley Career & Tech Center for creation of the class. • Provides support: • Monetary (books, supplies, etc.) • Academic Support for Instructor • Advisor for Students • College Contact for Parents • Liaison Between Career & Tech Center and College

  12. GENESEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Genesee Community College provides instructors for remaining two college courses.

  13. Within one school year, students will earn a total of 3-4 high school credits and 15 college credits from Genesee Community College.

  21. JOB SHADOWS/INTERNSHIPS • Students participate in 4 one-day job shadows at various legal, correctional and law enforcement agencies in the Fall. • Students also participate in 1 four week internship in the Spring.

  28. ATTICA CASE STUDIES • In October, Lt. Dixon visited the class and assigned students criminal cases where prisoners were being prosecuted. • Students attended the court case when their case was being heard.

  29. GUEST SPEAKERS FROM ATTICA • On three occasions, employees came to the classroom to speak to the students on various topics. • Lt. Dixon – Case Studies • Officer Stranahan – Employment at Attica • Superintendent Conway – Escape Attempts
