  1. 7.7 Trig Functions of Real Numbers Today’s Date: 3/13/12

  2. Find the rectangular coordinates of P(t) All that is being asked is what is the point on the unit circle that corresponds to the given value. a. P(0) b. c. c. (0, -1) a. (1,0) b. (0,1)

  3. Determine which quadrant contains the given point P(t). a. b. P(12) Since this is the same as and therefore it is in Quad II b. Since this is the same as P(5.7168) and therefore it is in Quad IV

  4. Don’t forget Unit Circle points are (cos, sin) For any real number t, let P(x,y) be the point on the unit circle that corresponds to t. sin t = y csc t = 1/y cos t = x sec t = 1/x tan t = y/x cot t = x/y

  5. Find the rectangular coordinates of the point This is basically asking you to find the cos and sin of that angle. Since it is a 30° reference and in the 3rd quadrant the answer is the following (because you memorized them)  Using the formulas this is just x = cos t and y = sin t
