The answer to “Why”? • Motivation factors: • Rare opportunity to offer a curriculum program as a cohort via video conferencing and distance learning
The answer to “Why”? • Opportunity to “grow” a program with limited funding. • Shared FTE and cost benefits: • collaborative colleges = 100% of general education FTE • Technical courses – 50/50 split for FTE
Why? 1 (2005-2006) average FTE = $3,060.00 1 Student per 3 hour credit = .09375 FTE = $286.88 Video Conferencing Fee = $685/month or $8,220.00 1 – three hour credit class with 29 students covers the video conferencing fee for 1 year.
