2. International Brotherhood Conference ‘ 2012 • IBC 2012 is an assembly of Domestic and International NGOs , academicians, professionals , highly placed government officials and world intelligentsia . • It is being organized to commemorate the 150 th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. • IBC ‘12 is to achieve and to create awareness regarding Millennium Development Goal (MDGs) of United Nations… • It is also being organized to celebrate the 25 years of existence of Vivekananda Sevakendra -O- Sishu Uddyan(VSSU),

WHEN • IBC 2012 will be organized by VSSU for a period of 6 days commencing from 27 th Sept to 2nd Oct 2012. • The relevant month of the start date coincides with 119th anniversary of the Parliament of Religions held at the Art Institute of Chicago in USA where Swami Vivekananda spoke about the glory of the Hindu Religion and won everybody’s heart on 11th Sept ,1893. The Rock memorial at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu was also inaugurated on 22nd Sept 1970. • The end date coincides with 143rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.

5. WHY • Swami Vivekananda lofty ideals of love, respect, humanity, peace, communal harmony , universal brotherhood , fearlessness , spirituality and service to the mankind were at the core of all VSSU functioning ever since it was registered as a Society in the year 1986 • IBC 2012 is being held to focus on ideals of Swami Vivekananda , so that each one of us can draw an inspiration from the deliberations and work further for the service poor and downtrodden , weaker section of the society. • Attainment /Achievement of the Millennium Development Goals to meet present global crises

6. WHERE IBC 2012 will be held at the following venue : Ashok Nilay Complex, Lakshmikantapur, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal , India.

ISSUES • Teachings of Swami Vivekananda on love , humanity and universal brotherhood. • Talks / Seminars on MDGs/Socio economic issues affecting the common man , sustainable living and community development projects. • Discussion on global environment degradation and steps for reducing carbon impact • Religious discussion • Science ,Health for common man affecting in particular in rural life • Discussion on poverty aliviation,ineqality of income & wealth • Challenges faced by the human civilization today

WHY IBC 2012 IN RURAL SCENARIO • VSSU is carrying forward sustainable development project through community resources. • Generating self employment opportunities to the rural poor • Enhancing dignity of labour to the rural poor. • Representative of VSSU visited more than 20 countries spread over four continents to share its vision, mission and values. • VSSU has played host of internees from 39 countries spread over 5 continents in response to our visits abroad • VSSU has been conferred with special consultative status by the United Nation (Economic and Social Council ) last Feb 2011

IBC 2012 as 3 in 1 Conclave • Attainment of MDGs as announced by the World Bank – the organizing seminal discussion on the ways and means to achieve them - a conclave of Educationist and Intelligences coming from various fields. • A conclave of eminent spiritual personalities representing the renowned Religious Institutions • A conclave of reputed artists , musicians and other cultural fraternity coming from both within and out side the country

Eco-tourism initiative by VSSU • Ecotourism is the perfect answer to the conservation effort of the delicate and fragile eco system. • It will also provide livelihood opportunity to the local people overburden to be poverty • Ecotourism has of late ,emerged as a development tool • It aims to protect the natural environment and cultural diversity • It attracts the eco-tourists and generates the source of revenue for the local poor people without harming the nature • Eco tourism is supportive as its works at local scale and incorporates landscape and peoples cape in particular.

EXISTING PARTNERS • READ GLOBAL ,USA for setting up an international standard rural library . • GOI( Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samity under the ministry of HRD ) for setting up a higher secondary school to pursue high quality education. • BRAC , Bangladesh to provide a technical assistance to upscale the micro finance operation in future • ICAR , Bangalore for working on wild honey bee project with support from the University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore . • ONergy Providing complete energy solution in the rural areas in south 24 Pargans using appropriate renewable technologies . • CALCUTTA UNIVERSITY for setting up a B.ED collage with approval from NCTE .

CEO OF THE ORGNIZATION • Sri Kapilananda Mondal(53) is the CEO and Founder Secretary of VSSU for the last 25 years . • He has been appointed as one of the members of the Working Group on Outreach of Institutional Finance , Co-Operatives and Risk Management for 12th five year plan under GOI, Planning Commission ( Agriculture Div.) • He has been honoured with ASHOKA FELLOWSHIP, for innovation on micro banking in the year 2003 from Ashoka Innovators for the Public – Washington ,USA • He has developed partnership with national and International development and financial Institutions , Commercial banks ,local administration, municipal bodies as well as other institutions. • Besides attending various national seminars , workshops, meetings , conferences Shri Mondal had attended quite a good number of international seminars, workshops , meetings and conferences during the last one decade .
