  5. What the purposes of narrative text? • The purposes of the narrative genre is to amuse, entertain and to deal with actual or vicarious experience in different ways.

  6. Generic structure Orientation: Complication: Resolution: sets the scene and introduces the participants (what, where, when and who) a crisis or problem arises the crisis is resolved for better or worse

Generic Structure • Orientation: sets the scene and introduces the participants, characters, complication. • Evaluation (if it is necessary): a stepping back to evaluate the plight. • Complication: a series of complication, or crisis points arises in the story. • Resolution: the crisis is resolved, for better or for worse. • Re-orientation: optional

One dayshe heardher uncle and aunttalkingabout leaving Snow White in the castle because they both wantedto go to America andthey didn’t have enough money to take Snow White. Snow White didn’t want her Uncle and Aunt to do this so shedecided it would be best if she run away. The next morningsheran away from house whenher Uncle and Aunt werehaving breakfast. Sheran away into the woods. She wasvery tired and hungry Thenshesaw this little cottage. Sheknocked but no one answered so she went inside and fell asleep. Meanwhile, the seven dwarfs were coming home from work. Theywent inside. There theyfoundSnow White sleeping. Then, Snow White woke up. Shesawthe dwarfs. The dwarfs said, ‘What is your name?’ Snow White answered, ‘My name is Snow White.’ Doesaid, ‘If you wish, you may live here with us.’ Then, Snow White saidthe dwarfs the whole story and Snow white and the seven dwarfs lived happily ever after. 3.Use the relational processand mental process 4.Use of temporal conjunctions and circumstances (sequences)
