Cinquain • Five line stanza with the following structure: • 1st Line: 1 word- Noun • 2nd Line: 2 words- Describe the noun • 3rd Line: 3 words- Actions • 4th Line: 4 words- Feelings • 5th Line: 1 word- Synonym for noun in line 1 • Example Dog Loyal, Friendly Barking, Digging, Chasing Please don’t bite the mailman Canine

  5. Haiku • Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. It is made up of 3 short lines. Written to convey imagery to the reader. The first line has 5 syllables, second has 7 syllables and the third line contains 5 syllables. Example: The Rose Donna Brock The red blossom bends and drips its dew to the ground.   6. Limerick • Five line poem with a rhyme scheme of A-A-B-B-A, popularized by the American poet Edward Lear.
