Critical Thinking As a class... Take a minute or two to really observe the common features of these pictures. Based on the pictures, what do you think the definition of a one-point perspective is?
One-point perspective: A way for artists to organize and understand space in a work of art. It is when one vanishing point exists.
Horizon Line: The horizon line in is a horizontal line across the picture. It is always at eye level – it represents where the sky meets the earth. The actual horizon might not be visible, but you need to draw a 'virtual' horizon to construct a picture in perspective.
Vanishing Point: The vanishing point is that spot on the horizon line to which the receding parallel lines diminish.
Orthogonal Lines: orthogonals are the diagonal lines that can be drawn along receding parallel lines (or rows of objects) to the vanishing point. They are the lines that go into the distance.
Congratulations Congratulations! You have just created a 3-D picture in a one-point perspective.
