  1. Understanding Pirelli Tyre Markings and Their Importance! Have you ever noticed those code-like letters and numbers engraved on the sidewalls of Pirelli car tyres in Wolverhampton? While many people have a vague idea about what they are, very few know how to read them. If you are one of them, this post is for you. What are These Markings? Pirelli mentions all pertinent information about the tyres on the sidewalls. While some of this information is of no use to a driver, there are others which you should consider sincerely while buying Pirelli tyres Wolverhampton. The markings serve another purpose. They are proof that the tyre has passed the safety standards set by the British authorities. For example, on a standard Pirelli tyre, you’ll find markings that’ll read 205/55 R16 91V. Here’s a list of what these markings are and how you can decode them in Auto Surefit tyres Wolverhampton: Tyre Width The first three digits of the marking correspond to the width of the tyre in millimetres. It is measured for one sidewall to another. In our example, the width of the tyre is 205 mm.

  2. Car manufacturers mention the ideal tyre width for each of their models in the user manual. You must adhere to it when you replace your tyres in Wolverhamptonfor the perfect performance of your vehicle. Aspect Ratio The two digits following the tyre width (55, in our example) refer to the tyre’s aspect ratio. In simple words, it is the ratio of the height of the sidewall to the tread width, expressed in percentage. So, if you have an aspect ratio of 55, it means that the profile height of the tyre is 55% of its tread width. Construction The letter following the aspect ratio points towards the type of construction of the tyre. Most tyres contain the letter ‘R’ which means that it is a radial tyre. Rim diameter The two digits following the Construction marking correspond to the internal diameter of the tyre expressed in inches. In our example, it is 16, which means that the tyre is 16 inches in diameter. Load Index The load index of a tyre refers to the maximum weight they can carry safely when fully inflated. The two digits following the rim diameter are assigned for this purpose. However, unlike the other markings, this is not a direct reference. For example, a load index value of 91 means a load capacity of 615 kilograms per tyre. Load index values range from 62 to 126, with the load carrying capacity varying between 265 and 1700 kg/tyre. Speed Index Speed index rating follows the load index in the markings. It refers to the maximum speed at which the tyres can handle the specified load safely. The speed rating is represented by a letter which corresponds to specific speeds. The typicalratings found in tyres in the UK are S (112 mph), T (118 mph), H (131 mph), V (149 mph), W (168 mph) and Y (186 mph).
