Introduction to the Day Vashti Zarach, Enterprise SIG Coordinator, JISC CETIS JISC E-Learning 16th JISC CETIS Enterprise SIG Meeting University of Nottingham Fri 20th April 2007
Welcome to the 16th Enterprise SIG Meeting • We have a roughly 50/50 split of people who have attended Enterprise SIG before, and people who are at their first SIG meeting, so welcome to both regulars and newbies! • The Enterprise SIG has been running for over four years, having started in Jan 2003, and there is a handout in your packs about the SIG
About the JISC CETIS SIGs • SIGs enable people to: • Meet other people working on similar projects / dealing with similar issues / using the same educational technology specifications • Avoid re-inventing the wheel by liasing with people who have previously worked on similar projects / issues / specs • Develop useful collaborations with others trying to do similar things in their institutions / organizations • Keep aware of news, events and developments in the area they are working in • Present their work to others
About the Enterprise SIG • The Enterprise SIG is a community of practice which has evolved over the 4 years to focus on various issues: • Exchanging learner data between Student Records and VLEs using the IMS Enterprise Specification (Brockenhurst’s MLE) • Exchanging learner data using IMS Enterprise Services (Enterprise Services Demo Kit, NIIMLE, BEWT) • eAdministration issues such as: Timetabling (Sweet.Net), eRegisters (BERT), Calendering (GCWS), eAdmissions (ADoM, DELIA) • Course Information (XCRI, COVARM)
