  1. HiRadMat: report from WG2&3 – WANF dismantling Agenda S. Evrard • Worksite: activities in progress • TNC cleaning completed • Beam line dismantling • TCX block removal • Cooling & Ventilation issues • Cabling issues • IEFC workshop talk

  2. Worksite : activities in progress (W3,4,5) TNC cleaning completed (ENDEL & DG/SCR) • Cleaning of good quality • Smear tests taken where contamination was the highest: reduction by a 10 factor (all smear tests < 1Bq/cm2 = contamination level) • Dosimetrybelow estimates (collective dose 2.2 mSv where 2.8 was estimated) S. Evrard

  3. Worksite : activities in progress (W3,4,5) Beam line dismantling (Michael Lazzaroni & DG/SCR) S. Evrard 2 magnets, many beam monitors, He station, VAC pipes removed. DIMR level 2 written prior to intervention: EDMS 1058846 Collective dose around 500 µSv (mechanics + transport) Magnets recuperated, remaining stuff as radioactive waste

  4. Worksite : activities in progress (W3,4,5) TCX blocks removal (Serge Pelletier, DG/SCR) S. Evrard Automatic hook available: movie Shielded forklift ready (dose rate reduced by a factor 5 !) Blocks removed and stored in TT61 Next steps under study (TI2 line is a big constraint on handling procedure)

  5. Cooling & Ventilation issues • Cooling station Water contaminated  waste management to be defined by DG/SCR • Ventilation unit Unit in TA7 definitely out of order  dismantling Smear tests taken in air ducts Reinforce air tightness of two existing doors (no way to install a new one due to crane garland) S. Evrard

  6. Cabling issues TNC BA7 S. Evrard Remove old cables (DC + signal) from TNC cable trays up to patch panel in TA7 Make room in cable trays from patch panel to BA7 for new routing of about 10 DC cables Work to be performed during LHC technical stops

  7. IEFC workshop on Feb. 11 OUTLINE S. Evrard Project overview (goals, location, Project organization) Beam line (design, …) WANF dismantling (RP survey, scanning, crane repair , cleaning, WANF & T1 dismantling,…) Irradiation area (access, CV, RP monitoring, dump design) Schedule (critical items, critical path) Operation (beam time and user handling) Conclusions
