Who we are… • Over 3,300 members – recruitment businesses and employment agencies • Represent approx. 80% of the recruitment industry by turnover • Recruit across the labour market: 18 sector groups, including health & social care • Global businesses - small businesses • Both permanent and temporary work • 11,500 Institute of Recruitment Professionals • Provide career development and qualifications for individual members • All IRP members must abide by the IRP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Readings below 50 signal a decline compared with the previous month. Permanent placements: a renewed fall in the number of people placed into permanent jobs amid concerns over Brexit & deterioration in candidate availability. This was the first time that permanent placements had declined since July 2016. Temporary billings: Despite an increase in billings, the pace of expansion was the joint-weakest recorded since the current period of growth began in May 2013.

  7. …but confidence is wavering Confidence in the prospects for the UK economy remains in negative territory. At net: -14, joint-lowest since June 2016. Confidence in making hiring and investment decisions declined by 5 percentage points.
