  1. MUENSTER CHEESE Made By Monks, For Monks. It’s Simple.

  2. How The Cheese Gets Produced Muenster cheese can be made in a few different ways: • The French like to make muenster cheese with unpasteurized milk. The French consider their cheese to be the most authentic, and most would agree seeing as how france is the origin country. • American Muenster cheese is made with pasteurized, whole cows milk. • Muenster cheese is pale, white and is served in larger quantities than the other cheeses.

  3. How The Cheese Got Its Name • Muenster cheese originated in France by a group of vegetarian monks in the Alsace region. • The monks had to ration milk and find a way to feed the group so they created Muenster cheese. • Muenster comes from the word “Monastery”

  4. How The Cheese Got Its Business • The French made muenster cheese started to gain popularity because of its taste & simplicity. • It spread to Germany, where it was changed a little bit, the Germans called it Münster cheese. From there, the cheese kept gaining popularity and spread throughout Europe. • The popularity of Muenster cheese then spread to America.

  5. Where The Cheese Got Its Character • Muenster cheese is really popular here in America, tasting like a mix of American cheese and a sharp jack cheese. • Muenster is best served at room temperature but it does go well in a grilled cheese on rye bread.

  6. Fun-sterCheese • Wisconsin Muenster cheese can be pronounced in two ways:“Muhn-ster” or “Moon-ster.” • Unfortunately, Muenster cheese is mostly fat - about 75% • http://youtu.be/soKkSyIyYBk?t=2m28s “I Like Cheese A Lot”
