  1. ABOUT US While your life story might share some similarities with mine, you may find definite commonalities that we share, especially if you have an appreciation for art! Now, you might be saying- Jon, how can you make such a generalized statement, just because we share an interest in art? Here's my story of how it all started and I hope this does not bore you too much! After the war, my parents had limited means and we were quite poor as with most families in Britain.  There were no "luxuries" like art supplies which included drawing paper but I did manage to scrounge charcoal sticks once in awhile. So it started out with charcoal on newspaper—the only thing I could make marks on at the time.

  2. Drawing Techniques There are many drawing techniques to learn. One of the first things we need to know is how to hold a pencil to be more effective at drawing . The correct way to Hold your pencil or marker, is between the Thumb and index finger supported by the middle finger. With chalk or pastels you would only use the thumb and middle finger. This may seem a little awkward at first but after a little practice you will soon see how easy this drawing technique becomes.

  3. Funny Drawings Even the most beginner of artists can learn how to create funny drawings by simply visiting this Pencil Sketches website. Once you have created an unusual and funny masterpiece, your drawings can be showcased on this website for others just like you to see. You never know where your dippy drawings may end up or who's attention they may catch—they could even go viral if they are zany enough! Idiotic, out-of-this-world illustrations can be found on sites that have been submitted by both children and adults of all ages. Even search the directory for theme-specific drawings that will have you rolling on the floor laughing. I can’t wait got to pee

  4. Funny Drawings Kid-submitted drawings are some of the funniest ones that make an appearance on your computer screen. Because children already have vivid imaginations, they think outside the box and even draw images of their inner self and how they feel. Young artists will amaze and astound you through creative designs, colors and textures that bring their funny pictures to life. From cartoon characters such as SpongebobSquarepants to superheroes like Batman and Spiderman, —see how kids from around the world interpret these designs using their imagination and own creative skills. Just a tip—build up a portfolio of funny drawings and use it daily as a springboard for your funny sketches. Sooner or later you will come up with something great! ‘Of course I am unusual; do you like my outfit ?’

  5. Koi Fish Drawings Koi fish drawings can be quite decorative in color and pattern which are identified by their shapes and scales. Here is a collection of koidrawings of varying shapes and sizes from short, squat, and downright ugly. Hey, but some of them are quite beautiful with their markings and color. Men who go for tattoos seem to like the dragon-faced Japanese koibecause they can look a bit ferocious as it validates a man's masculinity. The koi is a symbol for many things from the good things in life to things like "He's as slippery as a Koi" but most symbols are related to virtues that the Japanese honor. As a sidebar, the koi originated in China, not Japan. Koi Fish Drawing, ink on white paper

  6. Koi Fish Drawings There is a large variety of koi—there's the Longfin Carp, Dragon Koi, Butterfly Koi, Gosanke (the most popular) and hundreds more, if not thousands. Interbreeding is prevalent to get dazzling red and white markings which are the most popular. This is now an art form with fierce competition at the Annual International Koi shows. I attended one in Johannesburg a few years ago and I was blown away with the enormous variety of colors. Koi Fish Drawing

  7. Koi Fish Drawings Take a look at these koi drawings and let me have your comments on what you like, what you don't like and what you'd like to see that is not here. If you have koi drawings or paintings of your own, please load them up here. Share them with other people who love koi—or make comments on artists drawings you see here—they'd love to have feedback.

  8. Koi Fish Drawings Can you identify this fish? Is this a crap fish ? Just another fish drawing to color in ? Fish With Bulging Eyes

  9. Drawing Lessons Basics of Drawing There are plenty of free online drawing lessons which were not available before the internet -- some of these are quite good with the webmaster being a real artistic pro where you can learn a lot. It is easy enough to search online for  lessons on drawing where you'll find an abundance but look for "Reviews" where you can get a students' feedback which is usually truthful or you could check the testimonials. There is one I've recommended on this site as I've done an evaluation from student's feedback and their drawings. Some of them are very good after only several weeks of study.

  10. Drawing Lessons Basics of Drawing Also a good place to look is on YouTube where you can see real pros demonstrating how to draw in simple steps. They usually have a link back to their sites either in the tags or below the clip. Besides YouTube, there are other "How-To" video sites like Vimeo, Metacafe, Veoh and Ustream, plus many others. When watching "How-To" videos on drawing, you have the advantage of stopping it anywhere, you can playback or rewind it, so it is a good place to start. You can learn a lot this way in a short space of time.

  11. Drawing Lessons Some drawing examples below in pencil and pen and ink.

  12. Christmas Drawings Creative Family Decorations  Easy Christmas Drawings for family and kids to share! There will be lots of Christmas drawings here you can copy or print to get you into the Christmas spirit. Can you draw? Okay, follow along with me here and we'll do some sketching of Santa, a Christmas tree, perhaps some holly, a stick or two of candy cane, throw in a few bells, candles and we must not forget the candles which adds a little ambiance, right? Here is an image of dear Santa, notice he has a round face but most of it is covered with a white beard. If you draw a circle and place two lines for the position of his eyes, then draw a line halfway between the marks you've drawn for his eyes which will then be the bottom of his nose. And right underneath that is his wonderful and ticklish mustache!

  13. Christmas Drawings Creative Family Decorations  Are you getting the Christmas spirit yet? Okay, what about this next Christmas drawing. This is a very simple drawing of Santa riding a candy cane. Draw the cane first without the stripes. Then Santa's head which is very cartoonish—so copy it pretty much the same. Then draw in the rest of him and finally the stripes on the candy. You can easily use this on your hand-made Christmas cards or any of these Christmas drawings here.

  14. Christmas Drawings Next come the Christmas Bells and these will be fun things to draw but use your own decorative elements between the lines which can really be anything—try little Christmas balls, squiggly lines, even little Christmas stockings. See the ribbons and holly? Just copy them in. And you can also make nice cards using these bells—so copy to your heart's content. So let's be really adventurous with two people under the mistletoe, this should be great for someone you love. It is far more complex than the previous drawings so my suggestion is to print a copy and trace over the outlines.  Christmas Bells

  16. Christmas Drawings To the right here are the two lovers which is a lot simpler to draw than the previous one. Below left the drawing is made up of circles for the face and mouth, a few snowflakes which you should find easy to draw with simple mittens holding a carol book. This could be quite a decorative Christmas card if you use lots of bright colors against a black sky. There are more drawings below to help you get started with your Christmas projects. Use them freely and send them to your dearest friends and family.  A Wonderful Christmas Time

  17. Drawings Drawing is a vast subject and takes years or even decades to get to grips with—that is if you have the ambition to become a master of this craft. Do you have a favorite artist you like and admire? Go back to his or her earliest works and come forward in time and notice the change as the work of art becomes more masterful. Even those artists like Vincent van Gogh who had a short life indeed—you'll notice the rapid changes in style and vigor. It does take a lot of skill to observe the form accurately and transpose those lines into a great work of art.

  18. Elements of Drawings Knowing the elements of drawing, even if you have said numerous times "I can't draw a straight line!" will no longer be a challenge to you. This will be the first time you will really get some great enjoyment especially when you see your first masterpiece come off the drawing board. Nope, you will not be "straight line challenged" again when you learn how competent you have become. Elements of Drawing-a line drawing of young girls face Knowing the elements of drawing, even if you have said numerous times "I can't draw a straight line!" will no longer be a challenge to you.

  19. Elements of Drawings • The Dot Family: the difference here between the dot and the circle the dot is filled in with color whereas the circle is an outline only. A dot can be any size, very large or just a speck. • The Circle Family: this is the same shape and size of the dot. • The Straight Line Family: Don't think of the line as most do of being thin. A line can be thick, squat, or a series of straight line as in the example above. • The Curved Line: similar to the line family only it is bent or curved. See these curved lines as individual line - or as clumped lines. • The Angle Line Family: these are two straight lines joining together at some point. These angle lines are quite common you will notice in many drawings.

  20. Sketches of Flowers Sketches of flowers drawn realistically has always been a favorite among famous and not-so-famous artists throughout history. Vincent van Gogh did not paint his "Sunflowers" realistically at all but they certainly had impact for originality. Being sensitive to all the subtle nuances in sketching flowers takes years of experience. Being sensitive to all the subtle nuances in sketching flowers takes years of experience. Sorry folks, there are no shortcuts when it comes to creating flowers with a pencil or pen that looks like the real thing. If you can almost smell the fragrance oozing from the soft gossamer-like petals, you know the artist has created something special.

  21. Aztec Art Drawing Aztec Art Drawings were made to honor Aztec gods and battles, but also to tell mythical stories and to mark everyday happenings in the lives of these complex people. To the Aztecs, art was far more than a fun, casual outlet for their design skills. It stood as a symbol of their culture. Aztec Art Drawings were made to honor Aztec gods and battles, but also to tell mythical stories and to mark everyday happenings in the lives of these complex people. Draw the body as big and muscular as you like; you might even use a poster of your favorite wrestler or action star as a model! And all clothes for your subject should be bright and ornamental; think long, flowing robes, jewelry and headpieces, colored any way you like. Unlike other, more traditional types of art, exaggeration is encouraged in Aztec drawings.

  22. Abstract Drawings Drawings can be an absolute ball of creativeness and more akin to doodling or even scribbling. If you are a beginner and drawing or painting, this is the place to start. Let's look at how nature can help us get our abstract ideas flowing: Here is an image of some trees but the image is upside down so you can't actually "see" it is a tree. In the second image, it has been put through a Photoshop poster filter which reduces all the values from about 10 to 4 – so you can only see 4 values (value meaning the lightness or darkness of a color or tone.)

  23. Celebrity Drawings Celebrity drawings have taken a different level among the art lovers. Drawing is not just restricted to scenery, cartoons or idols. Drawing is such an art that lets every person show their inner talent. Your hands can do wonders and who knows that one day you will be praised as the second Leonardo Da Vinci! When it comes to drawing the celebrities, who will be your first priority? A renowned singer or a renowned actor?  Cartoonish celebs add a lot of humour To our lives So, you love drawing and your masters have applauded your talent. How about producing a drawing that will not only roll you down the floor, but also helps others to recognize you as a humorous artist!

  24. Precious Moments Drawings If you collect figurines, you can expand your hobby by creating Precious Moments drawings. This is only one of a thousand reasons to start drawing. Whether you want to learn a new skill, unleash your creativity or draw specific objects, you can create dazzling sketches that are fit to hang on walls.  This is a great activity for kids and teens and can even lead to a career in this wonderful world of drawing. Everyone already has some drawing experience. Whether you are taking classes in high school, making Precious Moments drawings or just doodling in your free time, you are ready to take the next step to becoming an artist. Learning the basic techniques and practicing are all you need to do to start this exciting experience. Pencil drawings are a great way to begin because you can get used to sketching and erase any mistakes like they were never there.

  25. Dragons Drawings • Drawings of Dragons is of course, an art, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be taught. There are many ways to learn to draw, and a few different techniques that you can use to start you in the right direction. • Start Here • When you start to draw, you need to begin with a frame, this will be the guidelines that you will use to pad out the drawing. • Next is the head •  After you have drawn the basic lines, you can concentrate on filling out your drawing. Use the guide that you have already drawn to help you place the head in the right way and use it as the base for the head. • The body Once you have the head drawn, progress along the neck and back. This will give you a natural progression and help you to make the look of the dragon flow.  • Finishing touches Once you have drawn the whole dragon, you can add any detail that you want such as muscle definition, scales, veins etc. This is the part that you can get really creative, and you can also add color at this point as well.

  26. Fantasy Sketches Fantasy sketches are a great way to tap into your imagination and therefore without limitations on you! When drawing fantasy creatures imagine the world they inhabit. What role do they play in their world? This will help create the characters in your fantasy sketches but first you have to create it in your mind! 27. Cartoon Faces Do you like to doodle when you are talking on the phone or draw cartoon faces on your memo pad during boring business meetings at work?  You are not alone.  Drawing cartoons is a fun way to pass the time.  It develops your creativity and imagination while providing some comical entertainment for your friends and family. The Basic Shapes Cartoon Heads, Funny Eyes, The Silly Nose , The Bulbous Ears You can easily manipulate your facial expressions by focusing on three key components:  the mouth, the eyelids and the eyebrows.  Leave the other traits the same and practice changing these three areas only. Have fun drawing!

  28. Cartoon Characters Cartoon characters can be fun to draw...if you're in the right mood, feelin' good and passionate about drawing cartoons, then...now is the chance! The Hombre here sure aint handsome! So if you can just loosen up a bit, grab a pencil, think about darling Grandma as she is quite a character to draw, then start drawing. I bet she will be delighted with the results - even if you have given her the ugliest bulbous nose! Chances are you've read and watched your fair share of cartoons so show grandma's hooked nose or whatever shape it is, her goose neck - and draw! Exaggerate whatever you think is cool but nothing 'orrible eh! This will shine through as you begin to draw your own. Cartoons are aboutcharacter rather than trying to create a realistic drawing.

  29. Pencil Sketches Pencil sketches are always a delight to see if they are created with passion. Do they make an original statement about something we've never envisioned or seen before? If so, it must be a great sketch! You can see instantly if the pencil sketch has been drawn by an artist who knows line, value and texture and reveals an effortless approach to drawing. Many of the drawings below show this style and most drawings with a boldly stated line. Sketches do not have to be "polished" as if they are for gallery display; have a look at Rembrandt's rough sketches or Picasso or the superb Matisse drawings. Many of these were "studies" for further exploration of the human form.

  30. Drawing Blog Nature Elephant Sketches Sketches of elephants drawn with 2B pencil. Time; about 30 minutes. Try you hand at this - draw fast and loose! Elephant Drawings,One of the easiest animals to draw. If you can draw a balloon shape slightly elongated you have an elephant right there - all you need to add are the four legs and floppy ears. Try it! Drawings of Flowers for Beginners: When Drawing Flowers Becomes a Breeze once you have mastered the technique! Try drawing with pen and ink, start off with ball pen then go and get a pen with a nib - and don't forget the black ink.0

  31. How To Draw My advice would be for a beginner to purchase a few quality pencils and a sketch pad. A ring bound sketchpad about 9 inches by 12 inches to keep all your drawings in one place and they will stay in chronological order (you’ll date each page). This way you can spot your progress over the weeks and months ahead. Get to know your pencils well, how they feel in your hand, the softness of the 2B to 6B and the HB which you will use a lot. You’ll need an HB for roughly drawing out your guidelines (which can be erased later) to the softer pencil and their characteristics. Please DO NOT use a pencil that has been sharpened down to an inch long. You can’t possibly get an nice curve or energetic line with a stubby pencil! See cartoon above for stubby pencil.

  32. Easy How To Draw Art is an inward expression to translate feeling and emotions into color, texture and shapes. For many artists, this freedom of expression has a cathartic quality to spill out what has been bottled up inside them and translate those complicated emotions into a thing of beauty to look at. The essence of art is to communicate thoughts and ideas from life drawing reality to thought provoking abstracts. The eye of the artist is quick to pick up project topics to move and affect the viewing audience. Some pieces of art will make you laugh, cry or cause you to reflect inwardly on a social issue. Since there is no right or wrong when it comes to drawing, it's important to be yourself and let your imagination run wild.

  33. Nature Sketches Nature, in the broadest art world sense, is all things Natural  Nature sketches in all its beauty is a job well done when you start with a few basic drawing principles to help you out. Whether you opt for a forest scene, the beach, a desert landscape or want to capture the essence of your garden at home, following a few simple rules to keep your nature sketches in balance will cut the chaos and confusion when getting started.

  34. Flower Sketches There is a large variety to choose from when drawing flower sketches and, if you follow along with these basics, you'll get good results. The easiest flower to draw will be any of the five petal flowers like the daisy or cosmos – there are hundreds of them to choose from. I have drawn a few simple illustrations on this page to show you an easy way to get an effective flower sketch. Notice that in most flowers (not all) that the petals emanate from a center point and that would be the stamen. At the base of the stamen you'll find the stem. You need to know this in order to draw it —you'll find it in all flowers.

  35. Angel Drawings Angel drawings throughout the ages have evolved with artistic cultural changesand new vision as to the way we envision these creatures. Whether you believe they exist or not doesn't really matter, what does matter is that there are no genuine models for angels. The drawing of an angels usually takes a homogenous theme to indicate the image is indeed that of an angel, rather than a creature from Greek or Roman mythology. Long flowing hair, oversized majestic wings, tranquil faces and loose-fitting garments will get your point across in drawing angels. However, since there is no legitimate model to craft the image after, it doesn't hurt to take a few liberties when creating your own unique angel.

  36. Drawing Gallery Here is your pencil drawing gallery showing a variety of styles on nearly all subjects your can think—you'll find lots on the human figure, faces, animals, Gothic, fantasy, Anime with all its offshoots and plenty more. Many of these sketches—which will be added to frequently, have been culled from my diaries (sketchbooks) dating back to the year dot. The art of drawing came about because it was originally intended for preliminary sketches to be transposed into other media—usually oil painting. These old masters gave us an insight into the artists search for forms, ideas and designs.
