NO SCHOOL November 27th: Stevi B’s PTA Family Night November 30 - Fall PTA Membership Dance 6-8pm December 4 - PTA Mtg and Winter Concert December 4-8 - Holiday Shop December 18 - Stevi B's Night, 3-9pm Happy Thanksgiving November is the time when many reflect on all the things they are thankful for. We have truly been blessed with a wonderful class full of sweet students and supportive parents. It was a pleasure meeting with you during conference week. Have a safe and fun time next week enjoying your family and friends. Grandparents Lunch Our Grandparents Thanksgiving Lunch will be Wednesday and Thursday this week. Our lunch time is from 11:08-11:38. Make sure you have returned the attendance slip that was sent home a week ago. (it was orange) Canned Food Drive This is the last week to bring in cans for the food drive!! Our class has currently collected 100 cans! Keep up the good work! : ) AR Letters We will not be sending home AR letter this week. Our computers stopped working on Wednesday. So the students were unable to get on the computers to take AR tests or Fast Math. We hope to have this fixed by Tuesday!!
What will we be learning this week? Reading:Reading comprehension: reading non-fiction text Multi-meaning words Math:Shapes Writing:informational writing Social Studies: Tomochichi, James Oglethorpe, Mary Musgrove Reading: Labels help the reader identify a picture or a photograph and its parts. Comparisons help the reader understand the size of one thing by comparing it to the size of something familiar. Cutaways help the reader understand something by looking at it from the inside. Maps help the reader understand where things are in the world. Index is an alphabetical list of almost everything written in the text, with page numbers so you can find the information. Table helps the reader understand important information by listing it in a table or a chart form. Math: Plane Shapes: (A flat surface) Square, triangle, rectangle, trapezoid, circle, hexagon, parallelogram, and Pentagon. Quadrilateral: is a plane shape with 4 sides and 4 angles Social Studies: Tomochichi, chief of the Yamacraw Indians was an important person of early Georgia history. He helped to create peaceful relations between the Georgia settlers and the Yamacraw Indians. James Oglethorpe founded the Georgia Colony. He planned the colony as a haven for people who had been imprisoned for debt. Known as Coosaponakeesa among the Creek Indians, Mary Musgrove served as a cultural liaison between colonial Georgia and her Native American community in the mid-eighteenth century. Musgrove took advantage of her biculturalism to protect Creek interests, maintain peace on the frontier, and expand her business as a trader. As Pocahontas was to the Jamestown colony and Sacagawea was to the Lewis and Clark expedition, so was Musgrove to the burgeoning Georgia colony.
