HAPPINESS Progress and Values Presentation by Geoffrey Roberts
Happiness Happiness comes from making progress and doing the things that we value and feel are most important. Unhappiness occurs when we don't make progress and we live at odds with our values.
I am happy when I do the things I value • There are two main problems that people often face regarding their values. • They don’t know what they value. • They do knowwhat they value but theydon’t live like it. • For us to be truly happy we need to know what we value and live according to those values.
What do you value? What is important to you? What do you value? • Family? • Integrity? • Career? • Honesty? • Generosity? • Justice? Do you live in a way that shows these things are important and valued?
Walking away from our values • Sometimes people exchange long term values for short term gains. • Tax returns vs. integrity • Speeding vs. law abiding • Sometimes an event occurs that drives us away from our deeply held values. • Divorce or separation
Values • What do you value?(Write a long list). • Are there any thoughts, actions and beliefs in your life that are in conflict with these values? • List five key thoughts, actions and beliefs that are totally in line with these values.
