  3. US mobilizes for war… Propaganda Mobilize: to organize people or resources for action like war. War bonds/liberty bonds: certificates issued by the government that promises to pay back with interest on a specific date. People give a loan to the government. Hollywood stars and sports heroes encouraged people to buy bonds

  4. Everyone pitches In to Support the war effort • The Red Cross rolled bandages • Families- planted “victory gardens” • Women knitted socks and made blankets for soldiers • “Wheatless Wednesdays” and “Meatless Mondays” • Conservegasoline and energy • Women donatedcorsets • Propaganda-writers, artists,photographers and filmmakers helped “sell” the war and create public support. • Industries/Factories switch from consumer goods to war production.
