The World trade Organization • This organization is for the intention to leberalize and/or supervise trade internationally.
Beginnings • The WTO began under the Marrakech agreement in 1995 on January 1st • They set up agreements for trade between countries. • It assists in the planning and overall structure of the trade.
Members There are many countries that are members of WTO. The US, Canada and Australia are all Members. Most of Africa and parts of Europe and Asia are also part of it. WTO represents 97% or total world trade.
Info • The meetings are based at their headquarters which is in Geneva, Switzerland. • The director of this assembly is Pascal Lamy. • WTO has 3 different languages it specializes in. English, French and Spanish.
Doha Development Agenda • This agenda was incorporated in 2001. • It was to help establish trade to poorer countries who would need it more. • Unfortunatley, it was unsuccessful.
