  1. “You thought that I was altogether like you” Psalm 50:16-23

  2. “You thought that I was altogether like you” • God does not think like us Isaiah 55:8-9

  3. Isaiah 55:8-9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” We are not the standard for right and wrong, and can’t rely on our own feelings to determine the matter.

  4. “You thought that I was altogether like you” • God does not think like us Isaiah 55:8-9 • God is not limited in knowledge like us Romans 11:33-36; (cf. Psalm 73:9a, 11); 1 Corinthians 1:25

  5. Romans 11:33-36 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! 34 For who has known the mind of the LORD? Or who has become His counselor? 35 Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?" 36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

  6. Psalm 73:9a,11 (9), They set their mouth against the heavens... (11), And they say, “How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?” “How does God know?” (Impudence). God knows much more than you!

  7. 1 Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

  8. “You thought that I was altogether like you” • God does not think like us Isaiah 55:8-9 • God is not limited in knowledge like us Romans 11:33-36; (cf. Psalm 73:9a, 11); 1 Corinthians 1:25 • God is not limited by time like us Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 46:8-10

  9. Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

  10. Isaiah 46:8-10 Remember this, and show yourselves men; Recall to mind, O you transgressors. 9 Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, “My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure.”

  11. “You thought that I was altogether like you” • God does not think like us Isaiah 55:8-9 • God is not limited in knowledge like us Romans 11:33-36; (cf. Psalm 73:9a, 11); 1 Corinthians 1:25 • God is not limited by time like us Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 46:8-10 • God is not limited in power like us Job 42:1-2

  12. Job 42:1-2 Then Job answered the LORD and said: 2 “I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.” This shows the absurdity of exalting oneself against the Almighty in heaven!

  13. “You thought that I was altogether like you” • God does not think like us Isaiah 55:8-9 • God is not limited in knowledge like us Romans 11:33-36; (cf. Psalm 73:9a, 11); 1 Corinthians 1:25 • God is not limited by time like us Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 46:8-10 • God is not limited in power like us Job 42:1-2 • God does not sin like us Numbers 23:19; (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:10)

  14. Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

  15. 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. We will appear in judgment before the One who is sinless. It is a righteous thing with God to hold man accountable for his actions on earth.

  16. Conclusion Which God do you serve? Do you serve the god designed by the will and wisdom of men? Do you serve the god you have created in your own mind? Or, do you serve the true and living God, the God of the Bible?
