  1. Reporting Injury • Employees must report all injuries to the supervisor immediately • (Board Policy EBBA) • (Board Policy GBEA) • Use the form provided and available in each building

Reporting Injury • Employees must report all injuries to the supervisor immediately • If the nature of the injury/illness is such that the employee cannot immediately submit the form, the supervisor will assist, but no later than 30 days after the injury. • Failing to report within 30 days may jeopardize your ability to receive workers’ compensation benefits.

  3. Workers’ Compensation • In Missouri, an employer has the right to direct and control medical treatment in workers’ compensation cases. • This means when you are injured, the district has the right to direct you to a specific medical provider for treatment, and • District has control over where an employee treats until the employee is released.

  4. Workers’ Compensation • IMPORTANT – Loss of Benefits • Failure of employees to use safety devices or obey rules adopted by the district • Violation of the district’s Drug-Free Workplace policy, when injury sustained in conjunction with use of alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances. • The employee is responsible for paying any costs associated with any treatment he/she undergoes on their own.

  5. Workers’ Compensation • IMPORTANT – Loss of Benefits • The employee is responsible for paying any costs associated with any treatment he/she undergoes on their own. • Again, the district retains and exercises its right to direct care.

  6. Workers’ Compensation • IMPORTANT – Follow Procedure • Report injuries immediately • Use the appropriate form • Use the district health care provider • Work-related injuries occurring after hours should be reported to your supervisor who will contact the Director of Human Resources.

  7. Injury/Workers’ Compensation • (Board Policy EBBA) • (Board Policy GBEA) • Questions during business hours should be directed to: • Cliff Sharp, Employee Benefits Representative • After business hours, contact your supervisor who will contact the Director of Human Resources for instructions.
