SPA Terminology • Exec Board – the 7-10 students that volunteered or were elected to lead SPA • APA – the professional organization for planners • IPA – the Indiana chapter of the APA • The “National Conference” – held each spring by the APA; where planners from all over America get together and go crazy!

What does SPA do? • Have fun and get to know other planners! • Act as a liaison between you and larger planning organizations (and to connect you with their resources!). • Provide services to members. • Public service • Professional development • Money for travel!

Travel • Know your colleagues before we leave. • Get the most out of each trip. • Get money to go! • The amount you get depends on (1) how much you participate and (2) how well we fundraise.

SPA’s 5 goals this year: • Increase involvement! Provide services for SPA’s members; answer to “What’s in it for me?” • Fundraise well enough to pay for trips and to help next year’s class. • Maintain and improve the website. • Do our part to build upon BSU’s strong planning reputation (and to increase the value of our degrees!). • Work with other student groups to get big things done!

Homecoming • Float, need a truck • Representation and to get SPA out there • Float-building party Special events chair will be in charge
