  2. Religion Overview • The religion in ancient Rome was Polytheism. • Polytheism is the worship or belief in multiple Gods. • Usually assembled into a temple of Gods and Goddesses, along with their own religions and rituals.

  3. Major Gods • Creator deity • Death deity • Life-Death-Rebirth deity • Venus (Love goddess) • Quiritis (Mother goddess) • Culture hero

  4. Superstitions And Omens • God vs. men • Etruscan developed reading omen in the form of science

  5. Ceremonies And Rituals • The animal they offered up had to be the same sex as the god or goddess they were offering it to. • They used charms spells and chanting

  6. Views On Fate • The god / goddess of faith are Zeus and Moira • When people interfered with fate the goddess of fate became the goddess of death • She was to be an ugly old women who carried a staff and a cutting instrument
