  1. Warm Up: Employees of the 21st Century *Answer in complete sentences. What skills are necessary for the modern employee? What skills do you think you will have to learn to become more marketable in the modern and/or future workplace?

  2. Warm Up: Employees of the 21st Century Objective: To discuss and analyze the workplace attitudes most in demand.

  3. Employees for the 21st Century Textbook page 242. Obviously the story above is inaccurate. However, it is quite possible to make an educated guess (hypothesis) about the future’s general direction. Trends are already becoming stronger for technology in our society.

  4. Employees for the 21st Century: Activity 243 Select the best choice on Activity 243. Give yourself three points for an ‘A’, two points for a ‘B’, and one point for a ‘C’. Add up all your points and put it at the bottom of Activity 243. If you scored between 26-30 points, you have the attitude that will make you a valued employee in the twenty-first century.

  6. Embracing Technology People who capitalize on the power of technology are amongst the most valuable workers. People at all job levels today are using a variety of technological accessories. From desktops to laptop, cell phone to iPhone /Android device, Kindle to iPad. These devices allow employees to be more productive and efficient.

  7. Life-Long Love of Learning With a rapidly changing society, skills need to be updated frequently. A love of learning will not only keep you employable, but will also make you feel a part of the advances taking place around you.

  8. Did You Know? Most of the jobs you will have in the future HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN INVENTED YET!!!!

  9. Flexibility Remember that nothing is certain in life except change! You need to be able to cope with the changes that will come about! People who can embrace change and can live with some uncertainty are more likely to survive in today’s job market. Whole job industries change…..or go extinct! Constantly upgrading your skills will keep you marketable in the future job market.

  10. An International Perspective McDonald’s restaurants are not only in the USA, they are all over the world! The world is becoming a smaller place due to businesses around the world entering a global marketplace. Those who can appreciate other cultures and understand the different economic systems around the globe, the future holds endless opportunities.
