SER Roadmap:input from CHIPP After the discussion in the August CHIPP board input has been received for: • LHC and detector upgrade • CLIC • EuroFEL (European XFEL Hamburg) [an integrated pan-European set of complementary FEL sources] • CTA • e-Science Infrastructure The combined CHIPP input SER Will be used for the next version of the Roadmap CHIPP Board 28 January 2010
CHIPP tables guidelines regarding content To be included: Funds required on top of regular SNF project funds FORCE (and FOLIS) funds Sinergia funds Amounts should concern large research infrastructures correspond to the year they are paid correspond to funds planned to be requested (and with a reasonable chance of being granted) Relation to projects in CHIPP tables should be made clear NOT to be included: Funds being part of a regular SNF grant CHIPP Board 28 January 2010 CHIPP Board 28 January 2010

LA FORCEguidelines to SNF For 2010, the following priorities will rule the distribution of FORCE funds: LHC M&O and Computing Completion and further development of LHC detectors Other experiments at CERN and accelerator development Projects of highest scientific quality done at CERN,provided they dispose of an international scientific committee of the same standard as the ones set up for CERN projects CHIPP Board 28 January 2010 CHIPP Board 28 January 2010
Internat. Representation Problem: Budget authority (SER, cantons) vs. scientific expertise (SNF, SCNAT, CHIPP) Projects (SNF) vs. infrastructure (confederation, cantons) Goal: To create a new common body (like the CERN Council delegation) with CHIPP, SER, SNF, CRUS and SCNAT with the following task: to clarify on a case by case basis the representation of CH in international bodies and projects and to ensure a sustainable funding mechanism including a long-term commitment as required by the projects Details and next steps to be discussed in Spring 2010 in a Round Table ‘International’ between CHIPP, SER, SNF, CRUS and SCNAT CHIPP Board 28 January 2010 CHIPP Board 28 January 2010
