  3. Causes of the disaster • Experiment was conducted for the period. • Nightshift was untrained. • Anatoly Dyatlovemphasised to carry out an experiment

  4. Courseofthedisaster • At 01:23:04 a.m. experiment start. The power and temperature was increaseing fast. Aleksander Akimowtried to turn off the reactor, but itonlyincrease the power. At1:23:47 a.m.thermalpower reached 30 GW. Power ten exceeded normal levels. Reactor exploded.

  5. Effects • Death of 62 people • Evacuation of the surrounding towns and villages • Geneticmutations. • Radiationsickness.

  6. ReactioninPoland • Everybodymust drink iodine. • Governmentprohibitedcattlegrazing and eatingfreshvegetables and fruit. • PRL authorities introduced a policy of disinformation.
