Brian Broccoli's Bad Day. Late one autumn afternoon, as the sun set over the farm, Brian Broccoli was feeling very grumpy. It was harvest time and everyone was busy getting ready for the harvest party. There was nobody around to hear his jokes.
Brian hated the harvest celebrations. The music was always so loud that nobody laughed at his jokes. While Brian Broccoli sulked in the corner of the field his friends worked extra hard. Peter Potato picked the flowers to decorate the barn.
Cerys Carrot delivered the invitations all around the farmyard. Tracy Turnip went to ask the birds if they would sing.
Night time came and everyone was very excited. Everyone except for Brian Broccoli. One by one his friends left the field to go to the party in the barn.
Finally Brian was all alone. Even Olivia the Owl had left her perch to join the party. Brian began to wish that he had gone to the party with his friends but thought that they would not want him to be there as he had not helped them during the day.
At the same time the rest of the gang were having fun singing and dancing together in the barn. As the night went on the birds grew tired and their singing drifted away. Peter Potato, Cerys Carrot and Tracy Turnip sat on the hay thinking of jokes they could tell each other. There was silence. All of a sudden the gang realised that something was missing. Brian Broccoli was their best joke teller and he was nowhere to be seen.
As the gang set off in search of Brian, Brian decided to go to the party to say sorry to his friends. As he looked along the path ahead he could see what looked like his friends walking towards him.
As they drew closer Brian began to smile. He was so pleased to see his friends again and promised to always help them. The gang were happy to see Brian and told him how they had missed his jokes. The gang spent the rest of the evening having fun together.
From that year on Brian always helped his friends to get ready for the harvest party. Can you guess what Brian’s job was? What do you get if you cross a sheep and a kangaroo?
