A Family Crisis Mang Jose is a farmer who dreams of having his own land. He has been tilling the land in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte for 40 years. Enrichment Activity 11 Now group yourselves into five. Let’s pretend that each team contains members from each class in feudal society. A leader must be selected that will assign role to the members, so that each social class is represented. Each team should have a king, lord, lesser lord, knight, monk, princess, and peasant. You are given 15 minutes to discuss and plan before the teacher asks you to perform. Then continue to the next slide. Within each society, each member should draw up a contract explaining what they will receive from and give to the other members. Then if time permits, introduce different scenarios into the group and see how each social class aids resolving the problem raised by the scenario. The scenarios may include floods, famines, war, invasion and the death of the monarch or lord.
After finalizing what your role is, write in a contract what you will receive from and give to the other members. 13 FINAL OUTPUT Write a paper about the issues of the farmers in the country. For the first paragraph focus on the similarities and differences of feudalism in Europe and in the Philippines today. Second paragraph must be about the issues that the farmers are confronting now and how it began. Perhaps you could read about encomienda system of the Spaniards in the Philippines as review material. Third paragraph must tackle the various means to end Mang Jose and other farmers’ problem – to have their own land.
