Things to Think About Now SCHOOL of PHARMACY • Have an idea of the type of institution where you would want to work. • Teaching intensive • Research intensive • Good balance between teaching and research • Postdoc??? • Where, With Whom, and How Long • Have an expected end to your postdoc training and communicate your career plans with your advisor. SCHOOL of PHARMACY • Build your network of collaborations NOW!!! • There is no such thing as a one man band in research, you MUST collaborate. • Communicate with • Persons in your current department and/or university. • Researchers in the field. • Professional meetings. SCHOOL of PHARMACY • Have a MENTOR! • This person should be someone you trust and whom can walk you through the job search, the interview process, the contract negotiation, the tenure and promotion journey, the day to day life of a professor, and so much more. • Finally enjoy the moment.
