Dog Fouling – CFYA Services Craig Willows – Service Development Manager
Areas of Responsibility Programmed and responsive removal of dog fouling from highways which are the responsibility of the Council Siting, emptying and maintenance of dog waste bins across the Borough (Environmental Health maintain the waiting list and budget management responsibilities)
Operational practice Dog fouling is removed via the area based cleansing teams using shovels and additional mechanical sweeping on paved areas where required Monitoring of dog bin usage to identify areas of demand, as well as the use of litter bins for dog waste disposal (information then fed through to Env Health as required)
Issues associated with Dog Fouling Problems associated with dog waste on grassed areas – very difficult to remove and difficult to locate, especially on large open spaces Dog fouling placed in litter bins – monitor usage to identify future demand People using them – occasionally dog waste is placed yards from a bin Dog waste bags in trees!
