  2. Who is Mevlana? • Mevlana was born on 30 September 1207 in Balkh in Afghanistan. He died on 17 December 1273 in Konya in Turkey. • The name Mevlânâ means “our master and president” and implies the love of people for him. • The name Rûmî (pertaining to Anatolia) was given to him as he lived in Konya. .
