Procedure to use song lyrics to write poetry 1 Week Lesson Plan Objective: After students have: made their own definition of poetry, read samples of poetry and identified their elements they will be able to: • Identify poetic elements in their favorite song lyric • Write a critical response about the song explaining: • Why did you choose that song? • What is the message of the song? • How does it relate to your personal experience? Activity • Listen and watch videos to identify poetic elements (Find sets of rhyming words) • Look for your favorite song lyric online. Read the lyric and write a critical response.
