Students Involved Mix of year 7, 8, 9 & 10 students Random sample taken from all English sets: Year 7: 16 boys, 10 girls Year 8: 14 boys, 12 girls Year 9: 8 boys, 7 girls Year 10: 8 boys, 7 girls 71 students completed survey on homework 68 attended workshop with O Davies & R Welden.

Key Issues No reward for completing homework No incentive to complete homework sometimes Amount of homework given weekly inconsistent especially in KS4 Homework is not always relevant to topics in lessons Students do not like frog – many do not know how to use frog KS3 students say homework is boring and tasks are repetitive No consequence/sanction for non completion of homework Students unhappy when they put in effort and others don’t complete and get away with it Some teachers do not provide help when asked KS4 generally do not like mymaths SAM learning is disliked
