Accountability Era What gets measured gets done If you don’t measure results, you can’t tell success from failure If you can’t see success, you can’t reward it If you can’t reward success, you’re probably rewarding failure If you cant see success, you can’t learn from it If you can’t recognize failure, you can’t correct it If you demonstrate results, you can win public support

So What’s in it for me? • Focus on and be accountable for what matters • Outcome versus Outputs • Promotes Communications- • Internally and Externally • Increases understanding about our programs • Guides and helps focus our work- • Increases intentionality and purpose • Helps us to know when to say “no” and when to say “yes”

  7. So…what’s in it for me? • Leads to improved planning and management • Builds coherence across interdisciplinary issues • Helps to build teams and teamwork • Guides prioritization and allocation of all resources • Identifies important indicators to measure and evaluate

Considerations in the Plan Development Community and Economic development incorporated into each program area Interdisciplinary approach-avoid silo’s Think broadly on issues (5 years-step 1) but more specifically on outcomes/indicators section (1-3 years) We will have opportunity to update plan yearly

  11. The Overall Development Plan • Draft key components: • Issues, some outcomes and activities using logic model builder-Today • Program teams revise/complete drafts for 4 issuesby March 1, 2013 • Stakeholder input incorporated

Our Expectations of Today First draft of identification maximum of 4 issues for each of the 4 program area groups Development of Outcomes program results and indicators for at least 1 of the 4 Identification of activities/methods related to 1 of the 4 logic models Presentation of one step at a time…then go into groups to develop Everyone participate-contribute-make it the best plan possible Leave with sense of satisfaction-some completion and clarity of work to do Succinct process of plan of work
