Problem • Large Lifts – • are always well organized and equipped • managed with a detailed, formal “Lift Plan” • Resulting in no problems • Everyday, Routine Crane Operations – • cause most of our heartaches due to lack of • adequate planning.
Mission To have those employees involved in the hoisting operation to analyze the task, plan the lift, and complete the hazard assessment card as a group to establish good communications and assure job scope understanding.
Expectation • To analyze all lifts • Choose wire rope slings where possible rather than fiber or chain • Mechanical devices should not be used in a load bearing leg • When “fitting the load”, load may transfer • CG may shift • Operators and signalmen must maintain continuous and undivided communication
