ANALYTICAL SYNTHESIS OF THE “LESSONS AND PROPOSALS” FROM SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS ORGANIZED IN ITALY • Improve national legislation on minorities and citizenship standards: no recognition-no progress • Improve international and European standards (Protocol No. 12 to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages and the Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime, concerning the criminalisation of acts of a racist and xenophobic nature • NO DATA-NO PROGRESS (no ethnic census, no forced collection of data, inclusion and reliable statistical data) • DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL/LOCAL STRATEGIES BASED ON NATIONAL STRATEGY (NATIONAL ACTION PLAN: inclusive approach at a territorial level of governance) • Cooperation with and between independent bodies and NGOs and fostering Roma/Sinti associations : GREAT PROBLEMS IN INVOLVING ROMA (especially non Italian) IN REDUPRE WORKSHOPS AND ACTIVITIES (even surveys): fighting distrust=building a net of associations, foster active citizenship!!! • HOUSING (NO CAMPS), SCHOOLING (NO SCHOOL DROP-OUT), VOCATIONAL TRAINING TO FIGHT UNEMPLOYMENT, RECOVERY OF TRADITIONAL WORKS AND JOBS, ESF, MEDIA……
