Intended Project: Why are we here? • To improve • Short-term: Alter your working environment that will facilitate proper body positioning. • Long-term: prevention of MSD and reduce chronic pain.

MSD Prevention • Ergonomics: the study of a person’s efficiency in their working environment. There is a broad spectrum of work place environment inefficiencies pertaining to ergonomics. This can include simple issues such as the lighting of a room, or more prominent issues like the general organization of an office space. • Creating spaces that are safe, comfortable, and efficient.
Chair and Monitor Adjustments Head upright and over your shoulders Eyes looking downwards on a 30 degrees Back rest supports natural curve of lower back Elbows bent at 90 degrees, forearms horizontal and shoulders relaxed, not depressed. Thighs horizontal with a 90 degree-110 degree angle at the hip Feet fully supported by the floor. If NOT possible, use a foot rest.
Remember to Relax and Enjoy Life! • Psychosocial issues: • fast work pace/increased workload, little task variety, high degree of supervision/ monitoring, few breaks, lack of control over work, high stress.
