  2. Courses taught • Nursing 5220: nursing in tertiary health care • Nursing 4130: medical surgical theory 4th year • Coordinate: fall and winter clinical for 4th year students • Previously taught and helped to develop HSS 4100- interdisciplinary course on death and dying.

  3. Research interests • Interprofessional education in palliative care • Undergraduate student needs related to palliative care • Quality of life of palliative care patients and carers • Care of patients with HIV/AIDS- various aspects

  4. Current research projects • Interprofessional education in palliative care – development of total pain module: work with Dr. Pippa Hall at SCOHS • Undergraduate student needs related to palliative care- completed survey of 4th year students with Dr. Susan Brajtman. • Faculty needs related to palliative care- ongoing with Susan Brajtman • Quality of life of palliative care patients and carers- work with Dr. Robin Cohen, McGill University

  5. Thesis students • Have had 12 MScN students- mostly conducting qualitative research especially phenomenology • Covered topics such as experiences of elderly women post- MI, patient experiences in the ER, being a trauma nurse. • Member of the Strategic training program for Palliative Care researchers: consortium McGill, Laval, U of O. Currently mentoring student funded in this program • Assisted SCOHS in the development of the first fellowship in Palliative Care Nursing. Several students received funding through this fellowship.
