Statewide VET Delivery Indigenous Mentoring Program Cross Cultural Practice Development Strategy Vocational Training Assistance Grant Service Practitioners’ Development Grant Educators’ and Trainers’ Fellowship Grants Sector Engagement & Service Development Utilises a community development approach and provides: A range of strategies to support Vocational Education and Training opportunities (VET) in the community services sector. Initiatives that are available through VET (TAFE institutes & other Registered Training Organisations) A suite of grants and scholarships to enhance industry capacity Encourages sector workers to form communities of practice to respond to individual, community, regional and statewide needs The Community Services Skilling Plan 7

In small groups (4-6 people) review the draft list of 10 workforce issues*, and comment on whether they reflect the priorities for this region prioritise the top 3 issues that impact most significantly on services in the region for the top 3 issues work as a group to: Provide an example(s) which demonstrates the impact of the issues on the region Describe existing strengths that could be harnessed to respond to these issues Identify what can be done across the region and within existing resources to respond to these issues Propose additional actions that need to occur to further respond to the issues (this may be at a statewide and system level). Sharing ideas: group feedback and wrap up * The draft list of ‘10 workforce issues’ was developed using national literature and consultations via the South West intersectoral forum in May 2010 Workshop Activity 10
Your input from today’s session will: inform regional workforce planning activities inform the drafting of a report: Seven regions’ workforce development challenges and priorities – possible regional and state-wide solutions This draft report will be tested and finalised in consultation with regions The final report will be presented to the CGC in November 2010, to inform decision making Next steps 11
