Atoms • All matter, such as solid, liquid and gases, is composed of atoms.
Atom Atoms have three basic parts • Proton • Neutron • Electron
Atoms Nucleus – is the center. There are two types of charges found in the nucleus. • Protons • Neutrons
Protons & Neutron • Protons have a positive charge. • Neutrons have no charge.
Electrons • Electrons have negative charge. • They are found circling the nucleus in paths called orbits.
Electric Current Which part of the atom creates electric current? - Electrons A continuous flow of negative charges creates an electric current.
Circuit What is a circuit? - The pathway taken by an electric current.
Circuit There are two types of circuit - Closed Circuit - Opened Circuit
Closed Circuit What is a closed circuit? - Complete (Battery, wire, and bulb connected) - Works - Allows the movement of electric current.
Open Circuit What is an open circuit? - Incomplete path (one essential component of circuit not connected). - Does not work. - Do not allow movement of electric current.
