Objectives • Further enhance the leadership skills of senior managers engaged in IT-enabled transformation. • Enhance benefits realisation from real, current projects at Newcastle University (including some already underway, or about to start). • Build up a ‘toolkit’ of good practice and capture it in formats that allow for multiple use and re-application across Newcastle University and other HEIs.
Expectations? • Of programme leaders? • Of participants? • Of wider stakeholders? • How can we best contribute to, and gain from, the Programme?
Expectations: of leaders… • Capture and share outputs from sessions • Define requirements accurately • Provision of best practice guidelines for benefits realisation • Provide external perspectives • Create vision of how things should be • Drive this programme forward actively • Be clear why we are doing this
Expectations: of each other… • Bring along and share experiences • Commit to staying the course • Enthusiasm and openness to change & to take the stuff on board and use it • Looking beyond the technology to solutions that meet the needs of people in the University
Exploratory projects – Key Factors • Exploitation: make more of what we have • Portfolio & prioritization • Flexible governance • Authentic student voice
