  1. Dealing with the Deep • Proverbs 4:23 • Our past plays a huge part in our present situation. Many of us have allowed things that have gone on in the past to shape and mold who we are and what we have in the present. • You have to own it to disown it.

  2. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23

  3. Dealing with Sin You can’t change that you’ve done it, but you can change who owns it.

  4. Dealing with Sin • You can’t change that you’ve done it, but you can change who owns it. • Throw off • Hebrews 12:1 • Put to death • Colossians 3:5-7 • Get rid of • Colossians 3:8-10

  5. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1

  6. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. Colossians 3:5-7

  7. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Colossians 3:8-10

  8. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Colossians 3:8-10

  12. “Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. The servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ Matthew 18:21-35

  13. “The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. Matthew 18:21-35

  14. “’Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded. His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’ But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. Matthew 18:21-35

  15. “When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened. Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, Matthew 18:21-35

  16. “’I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. Matthew 18:21-35

  17. “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.” Matthew 18:21-35

  28. (That is why the place is called Marah.) So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?” Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. Exodus 15:22-27
