Causes • Inexperienced workers • Faulty Soviet reactor design • All safety was ignored
Effects • Radiation rised about 1 km. • Radiation carried by wind. • Evacuation of over 200,000 people.
Aftermath • High death rate for clean up workers • Thyroid cancer • Infected topsoil, groundwater, and surface water
Casualties • Not completely sure. • Some say 4,000 • Some say up to 500,000 are linked to Chernobyl.
