  4. Canna or Canna lily Canna X generalis • Perennial flower usually grown for large foliage • Tropical foliage can be green or purple • Flowers are usually red, orange or yellow

  5. Day lilyHemerocallis cv. • Deciduous perennial – dies back during dormancy (winter) • Long, slender green leaves • Blooms open during the day • Easily divided to make new plants

  6. Southern magnolia • Evergreen tree • Large waxy leaves & large white flowers (6-8 inches wide) • Leaves are dark green on top & bronzy brown under- neath

  7. Poinsettia • “Christmas” flower • Comes in colors like red, pink, white & variegated • The flower is actually the tiny yellow center & the leaves are bright colored “bracts”

  8. Chrysanthemum • Called “mums” for short • Species has types that are used for a variety of floriculture uses: cut flowers, fall landscapes & florist mums • Propagated by cuttings
