  2. What can you make out of a 2-Liter soda bottle??? • You can make a piggy bank out of a 2-liter bottle

  3. The 3 R’s • Every year, Americans throw away 50 billion food and drink cans, 27 billion glass bottles and jars, and 65 million plastic and metal jar and can covers. More than 30% of our waste is packaging materials. Where does it all go? Some 85% of our garbage is sent to a dump, or landfill.

  4. Reuse • Reuse paper bags as school book covers • Cut used pieces of paper into scrap pieces of paper • Reuse your old food scraps by composting them. • Reuse old clothing by donating it to a local charity.

  5. Save water by turning off the faucet while you brush your teeth. • Plant a garden • Rent, lend and borrow • Recycle your Christmas trees

  6. Recycle • Make recycling bins readily available • Buy rechargeable batteries • Purchase rewritable CDs and DVDs so that you can reuse them from project to project. • Reuse your morning coffee cup

  7. Ways you can help the environment …….. At home • Stock Your Printer With Used Paper • Unplug Adapters • Unplug Your Cell Phone Charger • Use Rechargeable USB Batteries

  8. Ways you can help the environment…. At school • Copy and print on both sides of paper. • Use mailer sheets for interoffice mail instead of an envelope • Use recycled paper • Use discarded paper for scrap paper.

  9. Ways you can help the environment.... In your community • Pick up trash • Form a neighborhood watch program • Make posters and signs to get people to recycle • Have meetings and stuff
