Embedded Accessibility Features and Accommodations that Must Be Requested Ahead of Time for Computer-based Administration • Selected by form • Text-to-speech with volume control • 2 options: Continue to play or Click to hear • Click to hear isrecommend for most students • Students requiring this feature must practice using sample items on the ePATs to confirm they can access and use this feature during testing • Requires a headset during administration • Color contrast (see accommodations) • Text-to-speech with color contrast (see accommodations) • Oral script (see accommodations) • Samplers for text-to-speech and text-to-speech with color contrast are now available: • Follow the ePATLink or copy and paste the address below into your browser http://www.pearsonaccess.com/cs/Satellite?c=Page&childpagename=Colorado%2FcoPALPLayout_v2&cid=1205794393662&pagename=coPALPWrapper • Select the Text-to-Speech (TTS) or TTS/Contrast item sampler for the student’s specific grade • Once in the ePAT sampler- to view color contrast, click on the figure of the person in the upper right hand corner and select “Change the background and foreground color”
Accommodations Overview • Must be based on an individual need documented in the student’s approved IEP, 504, or English learner plan • Accommodations are available for computer-based and paper-based administration. • Paper-based form is itself intended to be an accommodated form
Accommodations for Computer-based Administration • Presentation • English oral script used for: • Students who cannot access the Text-to-Speech after practicing using items on the ePATs • On-site translations into languages other than Spanish* • On-site sign language presentation* • Spanish oral script • Color contrast, including high contrast and reverse contrast • Word-to-word dictionaries (English/native language) • Assistive technology devices – compatibility will need to be established *Due to the number, length and complexity of sources in the Social Studies assessment, it is recommended that this accommodation be provided individually when practicable.
Accommodations for Computer-based Administration • Response • Written responses in Spanish • Scribe (must be individually administered) • English • Other languages • Assistive technology devices – compatibility will need to be established • Devices with demonstrated compatibility with TestNav8: www.pearsononlinetesting.com/at
Accommodations for Computer-based Administration • Setting • Small group • Individual • Timing • Extended time greater than time and a half • Time of day • Multiple breaks (requires separate setting) 10
Accommodations for Paper-based Administration Since this is an online computer based test, a paper form of the test is considered an accommodation. A paper-based assessment is only available to students who: • Have a neurological disorder, a condition that causes seizures, or another health condition that prevents the student from accessing the computer • Need a braille form with tactile graphics • Have a IEP or 504 plan that requires assistive technology, such as speech-to-text, that may not be compatible with TestNav 8 • Will provide written responses in a language other than English or Spanish • Students with disabilities that prevent them from utilizing devices safely may meet this criterion.
Accommodations for Paper-based Administration • Presentation • Braille with tactile graphics • Large print • External cover overlays • English oral script (text-to-speech in computer-based)* • On-site translations into languages other than Spanish • On-site sign language presentation • Spanish oral script (also computer-based)* • Word-to-word dictionary (English/native language) *Due to the number, length and complexity of sources in the Social Studies assessment, it is recommended that this accommodation be provided individually when practicable. 12

What do I order now? • Computer based Administration • English Text-to-Speech (TTS): • Students must practice using this feature in the ePAT item sampler to determine accessibility and ease of use • Oral Script English: • Students who cannot access the online Text-to-Speech feature • Students who need the oral script translated into languages other than Spanish • Students who require a sign language presentation of the script • Students taking the paper and pencil form and need an Oral Script • Oral Script Spanish: • Students who need the oral script administered in Spanish • Color Contrast/High Contrast • Students must practice using this feature in the ePATs to determine accessibility and ease of use if the color contrast/high contrast works for them

How to Order Accommodations • Use the attached spreadsheet to list each student who requires an accommodation • Remember to fill in each student’s information including name, SASID, grade, and school • Each accommodation has its own column • To order an accommodation for a student, add a ‘Y’ to the column indicating that that accommodation needs to be ordered • Submit your order to the TCAP Helpdesk (TCAP.Helpdesk@bvsd.org)
