Overall Aims Of PESSCL • All children, whatever their circumstances or abilities, should be able to participate in and enjoy PE and sport • Raise standards across the whole school e.g. confidence, self esteem, attitude, motivation, attendance, behaviour etc • Improve children’s health • Have success in international competition

PESSCL Survey Results 2007/8 Key Findings • 90% of Young People taking part in 2hours of HQ PE and School Sport • 78% take part in 2hrs of Curriculum PE • 16% of Young People are actively involved in Leadership and Volunteering • 32% of Young People are involved in 1 or more Community Sports Club • 41% of Young People are involved in Inter School Competition

  9. PSA 22 Deliver a successful Olympic Games and Paralympic Games with a sustainable legacy and get more children and young people taking part in high quality PE and sport October 2007

PSA 22 Government aim for 2008 – 2011 ‘In addition to at least 2 hours per week of high quality PE and Sport in school for all 5 – 16 year olds, all children and young people aged 5 – 19 will be offered opportunities to participate in a further 3 hours per week of sporting activities provided through schools, FE Colleges, clubs and community providers. This will create a sustainable legacy both in terms of future elite success and grassroots sport.
